The older I get the more obsessed with skincare I’ve become. As much as I love make up, I want that glow that comes from having good skin. And with the merry go round of hormonal acne, it’s even more important to me to nourish my skin. So when I discovered May Lindstrom a few months ago, there was little doubt that I would fall in love. A luxury non-toxic skincare brand made with hand sourced ingredients, what’s not to love?
Before I walk through my experience and review the brand, I thought I’d give a bit of background on May. As a kid who struggled with extremely sensitive skin, May was creating her potions from a young age. And her line of skincare is inspired with those who suffer in mind. Every product is made in a micro-batch in her LA studio and is hand crafted to insure the highest quality.
WHICH PRODUCTS DID I TRY?
So far I’ve tried Youth Dew* (face oil), Blue Cocoon* (moisturizer), Honey Mud* (cleanser/mask), Problem Solver* (mask) & Clean Dirt (exfoliator).
HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
Like most products, it will depend on how often you use them. I used up a bottle of Youth Dew in about a month. But I also used it once or twice a day. I’ve heard others say it lasts longer. Blue Cocoon can last a while. I only use a pinkie nail size amount nightly. And Problem Solver is something you’re not likely to use daily. Even using it once a week, the jar will last you for several months.
WHAT’S THE PRICE?
You can expect to pay anywhere from $80 USD to $180 USD. It’s very very rare to find a discount on May Lindstrom products. But you might be able to use reward points towards them at places like The Detox Market*. However, you won’t be able to use a discount code.
WHAT’S THE SHIPPING LIKE?
This depends on where you order from. May’s website ships free in the USA and normally arrives within a few days. I recently placed an order on Sunday morning and my products arrived Wednesday.
WHO ARE THE PRODUCTS FOR?
Anyone who is looking for quality, non-toxic skincare. All of the products are sourced with the highest ingredients. And May does her best to eliminate as many people between her and sources as possible to ensure she is getting the best quality. If you have troubled skin or incredible sensitive skin, May Lindstrom is a line I’d recommend checking out.
CAN I GET THEM IN STORES?
Yes! Because of the shelf life and micro-batching, May is incredibly conscious of who sells her products. However, you can still get them in stores like Aillea and The Detox Market. But you can also check their stockist list here.
CAN I GET A SAMPLE?
Yep! Depending on where you go or order from, you can get samples. I’ve ordered directly from the May Lindstrom website twice and was sent nice sample sizes. They come in glass jars that you can reuse for travel later. And they also ensure the quality of the product is best even at a small size.
WILL I USE THEM AGAIN?
Absolutely. I’ll admit I was hesitant at first and I didn’t know if I would repurchase anything. But it took me all of 24 hours without Youth Dew to buy it again.
ANYTHING ELSE?
Overall, I’ve loved every product I’ve tried. And if my wallet wouldn’t hate me, I’d use her full line daily. If you’re having trouble skin, Problem Solver is amazing. And if you’re looking for more glow, Youth Dew is a beloved addition. Also, Caroline Hirons did an interview with May Lindstrom you can watch here. She talks more specifically about sourcing ingredients and how her potions were created. It’s worth the watch and will probably have you shopping asap.
I also love how involved May is in the process and products. When you order from her website, you’ll get a handwritten note. But she’s also made it a point to even cut out certain retailers. She doesn’t want products on shelves for so long that the quality isn’t up to par by the time it’s in your hands. Her commitment to making the highest quality product with the best ingredients may add to the price but it guarantees you’re getting amazing stuff. And your skin will love you for it.
