Best Organic Makeup - Lipsticks

best organic makeup: lipsticks. article from the style studio by keri blair

Over the course of our lives, how much lipstick do we ingest? If you are like me, I wear lipstick or gloss daily and have been since I was young. Studies show we ingest somewhere between 3-7 pounds of lipstick in our lifetimes. Wow, that is hard to imagine if you think about how much that actually is. Given that most women consider everything they eat, are we considering this also? I know I haven’t. What most people don’t know is that there is lead in most lip products we use and they aren’t listing it as an ingredient. Some advice I’ve seen online about this problem is to use less lipstick (HA) and don’t let little girls wear it. Here’s another solution, wear organic lipstick. Here are some that I’m loving.  Let me know what you think!

Ilia Lipstick $26

Sasha Plavsic, the founder of Ilia Beauty launched the brand after reading the ingredients on the back of her lipstick box. Wanting a natural solution, Plavsic launched the label in 2011 with 6 lip tints made from organic ingredients. The brand has since grown to 40 pieces, with a primary focus on flattering and bold lip colors.

With a combination of ingredients meant to deliver a bold color and hydration, Ilia’s lipsticks are slightly sheer on first application, great for building color or mixing with other shades.

Ilia Lipstick Crayon $24

ILIA Lipstick Crayon is packed with healing oils of sesame, rose hip, and papaya.

99 Red Balloons: A real red with a touch of blue. 99 Red Balloons is a straight forward classic with a recognizable, slightly irresistible name.

If you live in the Denver area stop by Aillea in Larimer Square to try their amazing organic products.
