Can you please share with the AILLEA audience a little background about yourself, both personally and professionally?

I am a former Manhattanite and a 20 year beauty industry veteran—led public relations and marketing for various luxury beauty companies.  In 2015, I swapped my high heels for hiking shoes and headed West with my husband, baby boy and German Shepherd in tow.

What was your inspiration when initially launching the Alpyn Beauty brand?

I created Alpyn Beauty to address the needs of the active, outdoorsy women who shopped in the boutique I opened in Jackson Hole. They were spending tons on pricey moisturizers and still couldn’t find anything that really delivered. I wanted to create products—for myself and my customers—that were clean, sustainable, luxurious, and backed by cutting-edge science.

What is your personal favorite Alpyn Beauty product?

Too hard to choose just one.  I’m very into the retinol alternative rambutan and skin-smoothing niacinamide right now, as well as stinging nettle, so I combined them all in my new serum, Niacinamide and Wild Nettle Serum. Stinging nettle does exactly the opposite of what its name suggests for your skin—it’s great for sensitive, reactive skin types. So the serum soothes as it treats your skin to all these amazing ingredients.

Can you share any pro tips for how to use Alpyn Beauty products?

Here are some of my favorites—use our Creamy Bubbling Cleanser with Fruit Enzymes and AHA’s on dry skin. It may sound crazy, but when your skin is wet, you are not giving cleanser time to bind with those dirt and oil molecules, kinda like tires on a wet slippery road.  Let the cleanser sit for a minute and slowly add water and rinse.  Your skin will thank you for it.  Another pro tip with our Survival Serum, apply underneath moisturizer and then dab on top of make-up for an even more radiant glow.

You harvest ingredients for your brand personally in Jackson Hole, Wyoming – can you share more about that?

Wildcrafting is the practice of harvesting plants from their natural, or wild, habitat. When done sustainably and with respect, only the fruit, flowers or branches are carefully removed, and the living plant is left healthy and intact.

Are there any new products that you will be launching soon? Can you share any details?

My lips are sealed.  You may take that as a hint.

What are your favorite non-Alpyn Beauty products or brands at AILLEA?

Sunscreen!  You need a lot at 6200 feet elevation.  I love Suntegrity Natural Mineral Sunscreen SPF30.
