Can you please share with the AILLEA audience a little background about yourself, both personally and professionally?
I was born in Belize and grew up traveling all over the world. My dad works for the State Department so I’ve spent time in Belize, Ghana and the Dominican Republic. I started my career in New York City and moved to Boston 8 years ago to be with my fiance.
What was your inspiration when initially launching the Organic Bath Co. brand?
When I first moved up to Boston, I started breaking out in hives reacting to the lotion that I was using. Having grown up all over the world, I thought of the ingredients my mom used when I was a kid. I remember when I had a sunburn my mom would use aloe from our backyard. In Ghana, they would use shea butter for everything. When we started the company I thought back to these experiences. I took inspiration from the places I’ve lived.
What is your personal favorite Organic Bath Co. product?
My skin LOVES our Enhance Face Oil but also our PeaceFull scent in ANYTHING! I find the Bulgarian Lavender scent to be very soothing and something from the PeaceFull line always makes it into my nighttime routine...especially since I am a nighttime shower-er.
What was your first introduction to the world of clean beauty? Why was creating a clean beauty line important to you?
Women, especially women of color, tend to be marketed with much more toxic ingredients. When I first started Organic Bath Co. I had no idea how little regulation there is in the personal care industry. I wanted to create a line with ingredients that people can understand and feel good about using.
What are some of the hero ingredients featured in the Organic Bath Co. line?
Shea Butter, Argan Oil and Jojoba Oil.
What are your favorite non-Organic Bath Co. products or brands at AILLEA?
I love the H.Hazel eye gels and am a longtime fan of Josh Rosebrook’s Hydrating Accelerator. Those 2 items always make it into my AILLEA cart.
